PERMIT and PLANS Information Sheet
All commercial construction projects within the CHFD service area require a separate fire construction permit in addition to any permits issued by the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department (PPRBD). Summary of process:
1. Complete the CHFD Construction Permit Application:
2. Submit plans: Attach all relevant drawings and supporting documentation along with your application
3. Permit fee: An invoice will be sent upon receipt of application. The fee must be paid prior to permi issuance.
4. Final Inspection: Once work is completed, schedule a final inspection at least 48 hours in advance, either by phone or online. Inspections will be scheduled based on availability.

Fire Prevention Division Permit and Plans Information : Fire Prevention Office FAQ’s
- The Cimarron Hills Fire Department is currently operating under the 2015 International Fire Code.
- Planning and Development submittals are done through the El Paso County Electronic Development Application Review Program.
- Construction Plan Review is cycled through the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department. Plans will be reviewed and signed off with a memo from CHFD.
- Construction Plans and system designs may be dropped off at Cimarron Hills Fire Headquarters Monday through Thursday 8AM-4PM. Expect a 5-10 day turn around for comments and/or approvals.
- Approved Plans, a water supply, and an approved all-weather access surface will be required prior to any flammable and/or combustible material occupying the job site.
- Clear Access within 150 feet of the structure being built will be maintained at all times. This Includes access to any temporary features of Fire Protection (i.e. hydrants, FDC’s).
Fire Suppression System Submission
- Sprinkler and Hood Suppression System plans and cut sheets may be dropped off at Cimarron Hills Fire Headquarters. (Electronic plans may also be submitted.)
- Sprinkler designs must be stamped with NICET III or higher.
- A state-registered sprinkler installer must perform sprinkler installations. ➢ Fees for plan review and inspections must be paid prior to any approvals.
- A memo and/or stamp will show approval. Plans and approvals will be kept on site.
Fire Alarm System Submission
- Fire Alarm design plans and cut sheets may be dropped off at Cimarron Hills Fire Headquarters. (Electronic Plans may also be submitted.)
- Fees for Plan review and inspections will be paid prior to any approvals
- A memo and/or stamp will show approval. Plans and approvals will be kept on site
